Our Expertise
SecureOrbit Labs brings together decades of software, security and hardware engineering. Our team has designed and delivered intrusion detection for defense networks, imagery transmission for special operations, DICOM medical imaging systems and building access control, and has taken mechanical products from a sketch to a machined prototype to mass production. We have written the code, cut the metal and run operations in the field, and we bring all of it to every SecureOrbit brand.

Security
Application Security and Intrusion Detection
Our team helped architect one of the first real-time distributed intrusion detection systems for defending U.S. Air Force computer networks, combining host-based and network-based detection with an expert system that decides when action is needed. That work tied every action back to the original login, even as an intruder hopped between machines and changed names. We also built remote configuration software for one of the industry's first enterprise-scale network intrusion detection products, later sold under the Cisco Secure IDS name.
Secure Software Supply Chain
We review dependency updates and security findings across our code repositories, using automated scanning tools such as Snyk and Dependabot in continuous integration. Every change ships through tracked pull requests.
Physical Security, Access Control and Embedded Systems
Our experience began with building access control software and elevator control firmware sold through major alarm and security companies. We later produced the first on-board IP network integrated building access control system, working with Dallas Semiconductor on the TINI embedded Java processor platform and the Java-powered cryptographic iButton.
Communications and Imaging
Secure Communications and Imagery Transmission
We have defined and implemented communication protocols for tactical remote image transmission, delivering software that captures and transfers imagery intelligence for U.S. Special Forces and military aviation reconnaissance. The team has represented industry on the National Image Transmission Format (NITF) board and worked in Command, Control, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C2ISR). This work required and obtained additional security clearances.
Medical Imaging and DICOM
We have managed and engineered DICOM 3.0 compliant PACS server and archive systems for image acquisition, storage and display. These systems moved hospitals toward going film-less, putting patient studies at radiologists' fingertips and cutting the cost of film storage.
Data and AI
AI Agents and Automation
We design and run coordinated teams of AI agents that plan, build, review and track work together, with human approval gates before anything goes public. The same agent systems handle research, project tracking and day-to-day operations across our brands.
Legacy Modernization and Mainframe Data
We work with COBOL and mainframe data formats, including copybooks, packed-decimal (COMP-3) fields, EBCDIC encoding and fixed-width files. That lets us bring decades-old records into modern data platforms.
Software and Cloud
Cloud, Edge and Network Infrastructure
We manage DNS, redirects, HTTPS and email routing for a portfolio of domains on Cloudflare, alongside traditional web hosting. On the edge, we build and run Raspberry Pi clusters on Ubuntu with lightweight Kubernetes (k3s) and network-wide DNS filtering.
E-commerce and Shopify Apps
We build Shopify apps and run online stores, including DiscountStack, a Shopify discount app developed and tested on development stores. Our storefronts run on the same platform.
Smart Home and IoT Products
We design connected products with a documented local API over MQTT and HTTP, so Home Assistant users can run them on their own network. Our YardTouch work covers watering controls, flow metering and firmware release practices.
Engineering and Manufacturing
CAD/CAM
The team brings more than a decade of SolidWorks experience, including Certified SolidWorks Associate credentials. We turn hand sketches and machined prototypes into CAD data for mass manufacturing, and carry that data straight through to CAM programming for CNC and waterjet equipment.
Design Engineering
We handle mechanical design from first concept through 3D modeling, iterative prototypes, bills of materials and dimensioned manufacturing drawing packages. We have taken products from an initial design through multiple revisions, and built and delivered a customer prototype from start to finish in four months. We use finite element analysis (FEA) to predict operating stresses and harden parts, including for 3D printing.
CNC Programming and Machining
We have worked on the shop floor as CNC machinists and G-code programmers, running CNC automatic lathes, secondary operations and waterjet cutting. That hands-on machinist's eye shapes every design so parts can actually be made.
Manufacturing and Process Engineering
We work with manufacturers from initial talks through tooling up and support after production starts. Our shop experience covers quoting, sheet metal layout, quality control, parts inspection, materials handling, and shipping and receiving.
Operations and Ventures
Field Operations
The team includes more than 15 years of hands-on field operations and energy-sector project consulting, overseeing operations for multiple companies across Texas and Louisiana.
Venture Building
Members of our team have founded, funded and led technology start-ups, raising multiple rounds of venture funding. SecureOrbit Labs has been building since November 2003.
